Aquamarine is the light blue to blue-green variety of the mineral Beryl, with natural colors reminiscent of the shallow waters near Mediterranean beaches.
 
The finest Aquamarine crystals in the world come from the Gilgit-Baltistan region of the Himalayas in Pakistan, mined at nearly 17,000 feet above sea level.
